Important Notice
If you are a nail technician or technologist in Illinois the license renewal deadline is October 31st, 2009. Prior to your license renewal you are required to complete 10 hours of cosmetology continuing education.
To ease the process of meeting requirements in time for the renewal deadline Illinois cosmetology licensees can take half of their cosmetology ce hours online.
The Illinois license renewal period will officially begin July 2nd. The state licensing division said they will send postcards for the renewal mid to late July for cosmetologists and about the first week of August for estheticians. If your address has changed, Click here to update your address with the licensing division. The license renewal fee is $50 and there is a $10 late fee if you miss the deadline.

This course touches on many subjects such as: visualizing your future goals, careers in the salon and spa industry, understanding apprenticeship programs, selecting employers, interview techniques, and much more.
Introduction to Industrial Hygiene: Advanced (2 Hours)
This course attempts to introduce cosmetologists to the content of OSHA 1910 Subpart Z, which deals with toxic and hazardous substances.
This 2 hour course will focus on hazardous chemicals and materials that negatively affect health. This includes the use of personal protective equipment, cleaning procedures in the event of exposure to hazardous chemicals, and the procedures in place for conducting first aid in the workplace.
Pedicures from a Podiatrist's Perspective (2 Hours)
This course will take you through an examination and health questionnaire that is "relevant" for a pedicure. It will give you the skills to recognize whether you are free to give your client an unrestricted pedicure, partial pedicure, or referral to a medical professional such as a podiatrist for treatment.
Hair Color Made Simple (2 Hours)
A complete breakdown of using color and the chemical make up of color products. This includes practices of quality coloring and corrective measures. Included are techniques for properly applying highlights and lowlights, differentiating between the many applications of hair color and proper measurements and color combinations.
Building your Career (1 Hour)
This course is designed to give you an overview of the cosmetology industry as well as teaching you some of the tricks of the trade. While introducing the fundamental theory and practices of the cosmetology profession, the course unfurls a whole lot more true insider knowledge. Emphasis is placed on professional practices and safety.
