State Requirements

Ohio State Regulations

If this is your first Ohio license, you are not required to take continuing education for this next license renewal cycle.

For licensees who must receive continuing education to renew their licenses, classes can be earned between now and January 31, 2007.

If you now hold an active Ohio license, you will need only eight (8) hours of continuing education, which must be earned February 01, 2005 through January 31, 2007. You may not report the same CE numbers more than once.

You must obtain a course completion certificate to verify attendance and receive credit for the course. These certificates contain the Board approved CE numbers which you will need to provide on your next renewal card. The Board maintains records by approved course number only. You must have this course number to resolve any issues relating to your CE requirements and file.

Cosmetologists are permitted to take any course dealing with cosmetology services, which would include hair, nail and skin care.

Hair Designers may only take courses dealing with hair-care.

Natural Hair Stylist may only take courses dealing with hair braiding or extensions, etc.

Manicurists may take only courses dealing with manicuring.

Estheticians may take only courses dealing with skin care.

If you hold both active manicurist and esthetics licenses, you will be required to take eight (8) hours for each type of license.
