Important Notice

Effective September 1, 2008 Continuing Education Will Be Required To Renew Your License

• All Cosmetology licensees who renew on or after September 1, 2008 must show the completion of at least 6 hours of continuing education.
• All Esthetician licensees who renew on or after September 1, 2008 must show the completion of at least 6 hours of continuing education.
• All Nail Tech licensees who renew on or after September 1, 2008 must show the completion of at least 6 hours of continuing education.
• Licensee must obtain a Certificate of Completion for each class completed.

These hours MUST include at least four (4) hours of Sanitation instruction.For late renewal, the continuing education courses must have been completed within the two year period immediately prior to the date of renewal.

**Licensees may not receive continuing education credit for attending the same course more than once for one renewal period. Further, licensees must retain a copy of the certificate of completion for a course for two year after the date of completion. In conducting any inspection or investigation of the licensee, the Department may examine the licensee records to determine compliance.

TDLR approved continuing education (CE) hours will be required to renew a cosmetology license that expires on or after September 1, 2006. The hours required must be completed within the term of the license being renewed. For example, if a license expires on September 15, 2006, the hours must have been completed between September 15, 2004 and September 15, 2006.

Only courses that are approved by Texas Cosmetology Commission in the course subject matter can be counted toward CE credit.
